The sickness is still here and I really shouldn’t complain. It is the first time this school year I’ve really been ill and *knock on wood* I am the only one in my house who contracted the headache-stuffy/runny nose-achy-sore throat-cough plague going around. Some of you may ask, “Why don’t I just stay home?” Well, all the working Momma teachers out there know – our sick days are few and far between, reserved for when our babies are sick, so here I sit, at my desk, surrounded by dirty tissues. Momma teachers must push through the sickness with pockets filled with Kleenex and cough drops and a mug of tea & honey.
As if feeling like a walking head cold wasn’t enough, on the way to work this morning something horrible happened. There was an owl trapped on the highway, everyone was driving bumper to bumper going 60, and it kept getting hit. I saw it too late, before I could even attempt to switch lanes, I had to hit it. And it was awful. I sobbed the rest of the way to work while my Mom tried to distract me with funny stories. I know it wasn’t my fault, that if I tried to swerve I would’ve hit the car next to me and caused a massive accident, but it doesn’t change the fact that I can’t stop thinking about it… so I am going to watch this video on repeat.
Everything that she says these days melts my heart! Thank God for our cute little girl.
