The other day I was looking through the Notes App on my phone and discovered my “bucket list” from 2010. I apparently made it one day during the summer when I was earning my resident teacher certification. Clearly I was very engaged in my class….
I decided to update my list by putting a little star next to the things I accomplished. Seeing 8 out of 13 things done is a pretty great feeling. Looks like all I have left is to earn my Masters, cook Thanksgiving dinner, go back to Maui, take a cruise with my family, and visit a food and wine festival before kick the bucket, right?
I think wrong. My list needs to be redone now that I am at a different point in my life!
Do you think it’s important to make goals for yourself? I have always liked making lists – especially when they are lists of things that I want to do someday. We can get lost so easily in our everyday routines. I don’t want to be one of those people who wakes up 40 years from now and says, “Where did time go?”
I remember being in college and saying that by the time I was 27 I wanted to be married, living in my own house, and either have a baby on the way or already born. I can’t believe that my dream is coming true.
It’s funny because that wasn’t just my dream though… B had dreams too. He told someone the other day how we made plans last year to move to Georgia, buy a house, and have a baby. Now, it’s all happening as I type this! Very hard to believe…but we are blessed and thrilled that we have been so fortunate.
So I guess the next step is to ask myself, “Now what?”
What are some other things I want to accomplish in life?
Cook Thanksgiving dinner for my family
Teach Language Arts in middle/high school
Add a recipe section to my blog
Bring my baby(ies) to Destin and Cape Cod with our families for summer vacation
Visit a Food and Wine Festival
Pay off my student loans
Host a dinner party
Successfully pretend to be Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy
Use an Elf on the Shelf
Earn my Masters
Take a Ballet or a Tap class
Have two children… or maybe three!
Do you like to make lists about things you’d like to do in the future?

Student loan? I always FREAK out when I hear that term because I’m perpetually in fear of missing a payment. Ack! But yes…I wanna get those paid OFF!

It’s so fun to see your dreams realized isn’t it!? I wrote my “Life List” 2 years ago and I’ve crossed off a few things. Ballet is on mine as well. I took for about a year after Lilly-Belle was born but stopped after I went back to work so I’d like to begin classes again soon!

I probably have about 3 lists running at the same thing that I want to accomplish (28 Before 28, 101 in 1001, and fitness goals). I took tap for about 11+ years. It’s fun!

It’s great that you accomplished so many things on your list! Recently I’ve been thinking about making one of those 101 in 1001 lists & I think after this I’m going to have to take the plunge!

I definitely want my loans paid off too but that seems so impossible at this point. I love to make lists, they help keep my stress off.

I love making lists! It makes me feel twice as productive when I check something off plus it helps me stay focused when I see it’s written down! Congrats on reaching so many goals! That’s awesome!

I am such a list person! My list right now includes marriage, kids, house, paying off debt…I seem far away from all of those at the moment though :/
