Yesterday was a great day (minus the fact that I am STILL sick). Mr. H and I completed all of our Thank You notes from our shower, picked out the groomsmen’s outfits, AND purchased his wedding day digs. We celebrated last night with some yummy homemade pizza, a big salad, and a glass of white wine.
As for Mr. H – he is wearing a stone colored Chino suit and the same linen mint shirt. I have to share our story about how we came upon this outfit. First – Mr. H spent months searching the internet for the perfect shirt. Think white, linen, small green pattern down the front, “You, Me, Dupree” wedding scene. I kept telling him that his dream shirt didn’t exist, but he refused to give up. Well, last week he emailed me at work the link for Banana Republic’s linen collection…and I knew he was on to something. So we headed to Banana yesterday only to discover that everything he loved was currently on sale – and going fast. He found pants in his size, but no jacket – and the mint linen shirt was sold out. We were about to settle on a green striped linen shirt – until he walked around the store ONE MORE TIME to make sure that there wasn’t a mint shirt hiding somewhere. And then he found it. In his size. In the back. Mixed in with a bunch of cotton shirts. So he excitedly tried on the pants and shirt, and a jacket that was a little too small. When he stepped out of the dressing room my tummy flip flopped and I got chill bumps on my arms… I definitely had one of those, “This is really happening…” moments. It was a good feeling, but soooo weird. He looked so handsome.
Well… we headed home with his pants and shirt and a phone number for BR’s corporate office. I prayed that we could find a larger jacket. My mom said there was no such size online, so we were pretty worried. After a lovely woman searched EVERY store’s inventory in the country, she found THREE stores that possibly had his size. So he called the first two in FL, and came up with nothing. As he dialed the third store, I said another prayer that they had his jacket…and what do you know, they did!!! The crazy part is… and without giving away some VERY private information…the name of the city where we found the jacket is my soon to be last name. =0) Talk about fate…
