Sharing healthy pregnancy snacks that every Mom-to-be needs. Don’t forget how important it is to snack while pregnant!
During your pregnancy, if you’re anything like me then all you want to eat is Taco Bell, candy, and spoonfuls of cookie butter. That’s fine for a few weeks, but when the numbers on the scale start to climb faster than they’re supposed to, it’s important to stop and think before you put something else in your mouth.
One of the biggest thoughts that helped me put down the cheesy gordita crunch was this: you can’t take back the damage you do to your body by eating poorly while pregnant. It’s especially true you’re like me and can’t exercise. So, over the last 30 weeks it took me awhile, but I defeated the junk food temptations and learned to snack healthily during pregnancy.
To curb my cravings, here are some of the delicious and healthy pregnancy snacks I’m loving lately.
Berries – For a few months I ate blueberries and strawberries like they were going out of style. Any kind of berry has been my best friend – as long as it is cold and fresh – and I love to eat them alone or on top of a bowl of cereal. Berries are packed with vitamin C, potassium, folate, and fiber.
Avocado and Eggs – whether they’re eaten together or on their own, they’re two snacks I thoroughly enjoy. A hardboiled egg with a dollop of mashed avocado is a great source of protein and ‘good’ fat.
Dried fruit and nuts – I bought a ginormous bag of mixed nuts and dried fruit from Costco that’s lasted me a month. I put it in smaller bags to keep in my purse in case I am away from home and hungry. Another great source of protein and vitamins!
Peanut or almond butter – All it takes for me is a spoonful of almond or peanut butter on a banana and I am usually good to go. If we have apples, then I like to dip a slice in some all natural almond butter with honey. The protein in this easy snack fills me up and curbs my sweet-tooth cravings.
A bowl of cereal and almond milk – it’s hard to resist the temptation of Reese’s and Lucky Charms cereal, but I’ve been good at buying boxes that actually hold nutritional value since I know there is a good chance it might end up being my dinner.
I’ve been eating more healthy pregnancy snacks than ever and trying to eat better dinners too. Unless there is lobster… because if there is lobster then I’m all over that.

All I wanted to eat my whole pregnancy was Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal. Although now that you mentioned Taco Bell that sounds delish! Right after I had my son all I wanted was fresh strawberries, hard to come by in January in CT but I think I ate them at every meal!

I crave all those and I am not even pregnant! I am trying to make better choices though – like you said it’s so easy to do the damage, but then to undo it is so difficult!

Lots of hardboiled eggs! I wish I could figure out a way to keep avacado fresh… caus once you cut it it browns and I def don’t need to eat the whole thing at once. Any trirks to keeping it fresh?
I need to get better at my pregnant snacking. I have relied way too much on processed foods that I never ate before. Makes me mad because I used to be so disciplined.
