The good food/bad food game is played like this: Eat something – wait and see how your body reacts – list that food under Good Foods or Bad Foods. Then try again with something new. It is great fun and it is how I discovered back in 2009 that my belly doesn’t like red meat or fried foods.
Now I get to play the game again… here is what I have so far:
If you are pregnant and have IBS, or any other GI issue, I highly recommend you play this game. Make a list of foods that don’t make you sicky and a list of foods that trigger bad things. Keep it somewhere close by as a constant reminder that just because you’re preggers doesn’t mean you can eat anything you want. As it is, when a woman is with child, she will have all sorts of tummy trouble (gas, bloating, heartburn) just from the baby being on top of her digestive system and the crazy hormones surging through her body. Play the game anyways – and tell me what is on your Good Food/Bad Food list!

Boo. A good friend of mine is in the same situation! She often has to bring her own foods to events which is a bummer. BUT she says it’s been a blessing in disguise because it’s caused her to start gardening and cooking more, both activities that she loves! She decided to make eating and cooking healthier a hobby rather than a chore! Good luck to you!
That looks just like my diet right now! I am 7 weeks pregnant and had a gallstone attack two weeks ago. I thought I was going to die– it was so awful! So to keep another one from happening I’ve had to cut back SO much. I’ll try adding foods slowly to see if I can have more variety, but we’ll see. As long as the baby is healthy, that’s what I care about!
Holy hell that’s a LOT of bad foods 🙁 That sucks!
You have gastritis too!?!!? I’ve never heard of anyone else having it! Mine flares up when I am really stressed out and came back yesterday. Uh I am so so sorry girl!! Do you take Carafate (not sure if you can take that pregnant though). It is my saving grace!
oh my gosh that’s awful! I’m so sorry that you’re having so many problems 🙁
Tummy troubles are the absolute worst as is the boring bland food you have to eat when you have them. I spent 3 months of this year eating boring food over and over again trying to get rid of stomach ulcers.
I’ve had a ton of gastro issues since college. I’ve been very lucky that they have been really good during my pregnancy. I have a feeling caffine was always the trigger. I have skipped caffine since finding out I was pregnant. I’m hoping it stays that way. Hope you are feeling well. That is a long bad list 🙁
I’m fructose intolerant, lactose intolerant, wheat intolerant, allergic to treat nuts, can’t eat things with seeds or anything high in fat (no red meat, fried foods, etc), & I had my gallbladder out & I have Crohn’s disease, unfortunately all this makes my ‘can’t eat list’ a lot longer then my ‘safe to eat list’. Feel better!

that sounds like no fun. I’m just venturing into this world of tummy issues, not quite sure what’s causing mine yet, but I have a feeling I’ll be playing this game too
I have IBS too, and this is something that definitely scares me about pregnancy!
Aren’t apples and applesauce the same food just one is mushed up? hmmmmmm Worried for you…gotta gain the weight for a healthy baby and I don’t think you’ll be doing that on a bagel diet alone 🙁
i’ve gotten these crazy awful stomache pains since high school. when they hit me, it feels like someone is punching me in the stomache, i’m dizzy and nauseated and occasionally throw up. fun! i finally was diagnosed with a form of ibs with no known trigger. i have some medication that i take now and it works most of the time. but of course you can’t use that while you’re pregnant. hope you find some tasty things that you can eat and that you feel better soon!

Oh no! So crazy that there are so many fruits and veggies on your list of bad foods. 🙁 Your poor stomach. I would shrivel up and die if I couldn’t eat the ones you’ve listed! Cherries are my all time favorite!
I hope you can get it figured out soon.

my friend has crohn’s (which is in the same family of ibs issues) and before she was diagnosed she couldn’t eat a lot of food that we would consider healthy, like fruits & veggies as her belly has a hard time digesting them thus causing all kinds of tummy troubles probably similar to yours. she is now on medication & has controlled her flare ups, but it’s a life long thing for her. hoping you find some resolve & relief with your belly troubles. i cannot imagine how hard it is while your pregnant 🙁
Hope you are feeling OK – thinking of you xoxo
