Since it is officially DECEMBER and my most FAVORITE time of the year, here are my holiday themed Friday favorites.
one. trimming the Christmas tree.
Last night we ventured out to buy our Christmas tree and were SHOCKED at how prices went up again. There is no way we can justify paying $100 for a 7 foot tree with wonky branches and a crooked trunk. Thankfully we found a Christmas tree at Lowes (it was the display tree).
We are impressed with the Christmas tree from Lowe’s quality and strong pine smell. Tonight we will decorate the tree since last night we discovered we needed more lights before anything else.
Do you buy a real Christmas tree or artificial tree?
two. meeting Santa.
I am beyond excited to take Annabelle and Ailey to meet Santa next week at Avalon. The Christmas season is officially in session once you sit on Santa’s lap.
Annabelle has been going to see the same Santa Clause at Avalon since she was old enough to meet him. She has always done a great job of sitting on his lap, and we are anxious to see how Ailey does with Santa.
three. decorating EVERY room in the house.
We have added another tiny Christmas tree to our collection this year. Bernard the Elf brought Annabelle her very own Christmas tree for her bedroom last weekend. We don’t have the space in our house for multiple big trees, so our largest is in the living room and then we have one in our bedroom and one in Annabelle’s.
Every Christmas I decorate our downstairs bathroom, dining room, kitchen, and upstairs hallway too. Someday I will have every room transformed into a winter wonderland for my favorite month of the year!

four. twinkly Christmas lights.
Is there nothing more precious than a little kid with twinkly lights and a Christmas tree? Annabelle practically knocked the tree over trying to get close to it last night. I didn’t even have to ask her to smile for the picture and there will be plenty more Christmas tree photos where this came from!
five. the magic of the holiday season
Ohhh the magic of the holiday season is something I dream about all year long. It’s why I watched Christmas movies during both of my labors. From Santa Clause to the Nativity to silly old Bernard the Elf, I love seeing the wonder in Annabelle’s eyes as we share the stories most dear to our heart with her (and someday Ailey too).
This weekend will be filled with Christmas cheer as we finish decorating our tree and our house. We will be wearing matching Christmas pajamas every chance we get! Here’s to hoping we don’t have any more light issues when we tackle the outside of our house…

And, um, I will offer you bottomless mimosas (or bottomless wine glasses) and FREE BABYSITTING if you will come decorate my tree. I am just not feeling motivated this year!
